Fantastic report Garry.  Wish your daughter good luck in college.  My daughter starts Sept. 3rd but she decided to stay close to home and go to OCC the first two years and them transfer (she hopes) to Moore College of Art and Design in Philly.

Paul,
Good Luck to your daughter too!  There is nothing wrong with OCC and then transferring.  She has good taste in schools as well!  Wonder where she gets her artistic talent from??  The most important thing isn't where they are going to school, but that they ARE going to school!!

I just hope her dreams will be realized.  I have seen so many kids go off to college and either not make it and drop out and others try so hard and realize that what they studied was just not what they thought it was and go to work for peanuts at a job totally un related.

Fished the north end today and caught around a 3# blue. Fished between 3pm and 5pm using a 1/2 oz. rat-l-trap in p-nut bunker pattern. Saw an older couple fishing and pulled up several bergalls and two short blackfish on clams. Forgot my pliers at home so I used theirs in trade for the fish. Never seen a happier old lady in my life. ;D  Also saw a family fishing the tip there keeping short fluke. Didn't have it in me to say something tho.

Welcome Aboard Bobduffysr,

Nice to have you aboard.  I see you have made use of the board and had a good day of catching.  If you have any questions don't hesitate to throw them out there there are plenty of very knowledgeable people on that love to share.

Again Welcome Aboard.

Happy Catching

Paul

Welcome!  Garry certainly knows the Canal and Inlet and can help you get on fish!  Glad to hear his info helped out...as it always does.  Good Luck and nice catch!

I finally got out to the canal today.  Tried to go at 8 but the list of things to do was bigger then i thought, however finally around 1:30 I got out there. The current was slow pretty much the whole time I was there, clean water and minimal boat traffic.  Only caught one striper, about 20 inches. Great fight however. Had a bluefish come up and shred my buddies fin-s but that was about all the action for the day.  Planning on going out maybe later to night. And thanks to Garry for all your advice!!! t^

I've been taking Garry's advice but I'm hard pressed finding a rapala x-rap. Any suggestions. I've been using a rat-l-trap which has great action but no offers from any stripers.  5hrug

I was in the same situation with not being able to find any however I went to the sports autority in brick and they had the xrap glass ghost in 10 and 14 but no 12. So i bought both the 10 and 14 and so far have only used the 10 but I like it.

Welcome Marcos!  Look forward to your reports.  Nice to see another land fishermen in the area.

No Canal...hit the Inlet on the incoming and it was basically unfishable.  Nothing there to be had anyway!!

I went against every rule and went earlier today at 12.  I had the itch but I had other stuff to do afterwards so I was only there for 45 minutes. Caught a nice 3# bluefish but that was it.

Nice!  The rules don't always have to apply!  Against my better judgement I went out to the Inlet yesterday evening...and as bad as it was, it was better than sitting home.  A few expletives while driving, a few laughs while fishing and it was all good!

That is what makes fishing nice...
