Good find plus don't forget that many of us now use a carbon fiber fishing rod either from the boat or the surf. These rods if you look have a caution tag somewhere that you should always watch out for electrical wires over head, well they also make great lightning rods as well.
Remember the next time you are out on the beach look around you will probably ne the tallest thing standing except for your rod. If there is a lightning storm around either take in your rod and switch over to fiberglass or ground it out by using an aluminum rod holder and attach a wire to the rod to make sure it is grounded.
If you ride with your rods in rocket launchers and they are carbon fiber you are a moving target for lightning as well. Take them down when running through a storm. Better yet don't get caught out in one.
