Reel Class Fluke 7/11 "FTYP" trip
« on: July 12, 2008, 07:54:09 AM »
Had Fin-S Bob, Bruce Stone, Jule Raichle, and Ryan Helmstetter aboard for todya's FTYP Trip.

Ran to the reef, stayed in that general area throughout the day. First thing, it was tough. Had a few jumbo seabass and a couple of keeper fluke in the first 2 or so hours, then we made a move and found a nice patch of fish. Wound up picking away steadily for a few drifts, mostly keeper fluke, a few seabass, and a few BIG ling in the mix. Jule nailed a nice 25"/6# fish amidst a nice flurry.

Wind crapped out, so we moved to a flatter spot w/ not as much junk on the bottom, power drifted, and continued to pick away at nice fish.

Wind kicked in after 2, so we went back on the drift and continued to pick.

Overall, fishing was a slow, but steady pick throughout the day. Out of around 40 fluke, we boated 18 keepers, most were 19-21" with a few over and a few under that. Also had 8 nice seabass in the box, and 4 ling. Bob led the way w/ 6 keepers, and everyone caught their share. Was a great day, great weather, and plenty of meat in the box when all was said and done!

Will post pics on the site later this weekend!!

Thats a really good catch from most of the reports I've been seeing.
