Saturday fluking...
« on: July 27, 2008, 10:59:28 AM »
Annual shop trip with the boys on the Cathy Sea from Sewaren. Left the dock at sunrise and shot straight out to the Reach before the crowds arrived.
Nice pick for the first 2 hours until the tide died out around 8:30 Am. We had zero movement until the incoming started, but the pick slowed considerably. Once the tide began to move, our problem was wind. Shifting and changing speeds all over. SE, SW, S and kept changing.
Worked everything from the terminal channel on back to the triangle. 35-40 ft was the sweet spot, any shallower and birds were thick.
Chartruese 3" gulp swimming minnow and sandeel or killie was the ticket.
We easily totaled 60+ stamps in 6 hours, putting 6 in the box. Biggest going 22" most in the 18 -19" range.

The one thing I learned today, know when to say when. Tried bucktailing ALL day and it just wasnt happening. Didnt know when to call it quits but I had a point to prove. Now I'll deal with getting my stones busted all week!!!
And I have no idea what the guys are looking for either, must be hard to find whatever it is

Nice catch!  Thanks for the report.  I never know when to call it quits either.  Mostly b/c I just like to fish whether I catch anything or not!

Nice report, and you guys got some keepers. Yeah I know about being hard nosed about something, and sticking with it no matter what, sometimes it hurts you. Thats why I decided to liveline shad today instead of sticking with lures.
