Sandy Hook 8/4
« on: August 04, 2008, 09:33:39 PM »
Jumped out of Leonardo about 2:30. Went right to the end of the ammo pier and set up shop drifting east through the lead channel. Came up with 4 keepers and a whole bunch of shorts and robins. We wasted an hour out at the point of the hook and in the Reach but ended up back at the pier. Only got chased out once when we first arrived there due to my poor navigational skills.  nosmly

We caught them on everything. Old squid..frozen spearing...sea robins. The big one was a bit under 27" and was nailed on a 4 oz spro with a trailer hook/belly. Quick drift today, even during the 4:30 slack tide (low).

I'm hoping to get out to the ocean more in the next couple weeks but I don't know a whole lot about it aside from the Rocks.

Nick

Nice day and report thanks.

I saw quite a few boats over that way the other day; passed it by.
Didn't believe there were any more keepers hiding there.

Now that you proved me wrong I gotsta make some more drifts over there....  chrz
