Last Call - 8/10 Sea Bassin'
« on: August 11, 2008, 07:06:38 AM »
With the threat of the "boogie man" looming for Sunday afternoon, the crew opted to so some Sea Bassing instead of the shark trip.  Hit the rocks and we're hooked up immediately.  40 Sea Bass (only 1 keeper) and (2) 19 1/2" Fluke later, we headed for the barn with the sky getting dark. Fish cleaned, boat washed and sitting at On The Deck before the first drops.  Not a bad day!

Nice action there.  Plus getting everything stowed and cleaned before the storm hit was a good thing... t^

From my limited experience when you hit the small cbass thick you need to move. If you don't, it will be drop and reel til you have no bait and/or rigs left but all small. Sometimes 20yds away is all it takes. I have increased/decreased scope on the hook and BAM keepers.

Other days it's not that easy.
Nice report.

How very true. The bigger fish will push the smaller fish off to get to the food. When you are catching mostly shorts, the bigger fish are pretty much culled out, best to then bust a move.  t^

I hear the good advice as we moved several times.  I guess it was just one of those days.
