I was down in Belmar last week and saw these guys buying 1/2 ounce spro,s to put on the top hook.Great idea. It has been my experience that
bucktailing with a top hook results in bigger fish
BIG BAITS BIG FISH
Got to the Red Church and Bang 8lber grabs the top hook with just a strip of squid.
This rig is the best i ever fished. You guys need to put teaser a foot up .Keep it simple dont bunch up the bait. A simple strip flutters and gives lots of action

I attach the 1/2 ounce spro directly to the dropper loop
Small loop prevents hangups
No leader just make a dropper and attach the spro

very confused... probably to difficult to fish off the surf anyway
Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.

I used a 1/4oz as my teaser, very happy with it's results. Will continue to use In hopes of the 10+lbs

Actually it is pretty easy to fish a teaser in the surf or inlet...you can make it shorter if needed.  Realistically, you could tie the teaser right to the swivel that your main rig/leader comes off of...  Most of the time I just use a 4/0 or 5/0 hook teaser that is tied with bucktail w/ no additional weight at all for shore fishing.  I can see where a lighter weight one will work well though and also some type of bait added!!
