Grass Shrimp Cape May Area
« on: August 19, 2008, 04:14:42 PM »
There are a lot of bait and tackle shops in Cape May. Does anyone know if any of them carry grass shrimp? The family and I are leaving for a weeks vacation on Friday and I will be surf fishing every morning at Cape May Point and Sunset Beach. I would love to get some grass shrimp for the weakfish. Thanks for any help.

i know most places you would have to call and reserve the grass shrimp as most places won't have them handy.  They will have to get them the night before your order.
Fish out of Toms River NJ.
Call Nick for open boat, 973-417-5756, or on Channel 68.

I am not to sure about the B&T's but I am hearing good reports about Reeds Beach for good size weaks and other species as well.  It seems a local hot spot do a google on it and switch to satellite.  Looks interesting.

OK So if I can't find any grass shrimp in Cape May what would be the next best bait for surf weakfish? One bait shop has both live spot, shedder crab and frozen peanut bunker. I hear all are good for weakfish. What would you use? Thanks again for the help.

I, personally, would use shedder crab!!  Always had success in the bay with shedders.  Maybe you could give them all a try during the week??

Good Luck and enjoy your vacation!
