Manasquan River Flukin' 8/26
« on: August 27, 2008, 08:26:00 AM »
Skipped the JP II today as I had an invite on a friends boat to try flukin' around the rocks leaving out of Manasquan yesterday. Left the dock at 7...... oceanside wasn't to be as we were hit by small craft warnings and a howling NNE winds.

Opted for the inlet and river and were joined by a small flotilla of would be ocean flukers who didn't want to brave the waters on the other side of the inlet either.

Not a strong bite...fished the inlet and channel through dog island.  Nailed a 21" on the white bucktail teaser in the inlet.

Moved on the other side of the railroad bridge and worked the channel down past Clark's...boated two more keepers and a few shorts.

All in all could have been worse, although I was disappointed not to get a shot at fishing for the flatties on some of the sticky bottom off Manasquan. 3 keepers in the river is OK by me.....back at the dock at 12:30
