OK Whats For Lunch...
« on: August 27, 2008, 12:13:11 PM »
I made Taylor Pork Roll with cheese and fried egg, on old fashioned white bread.

I found that they bake the bread fresh daily at Stop & Shop.  What a difference it is the way I remember it as a kid.

Sure did...in Ellenville, NY in the Catskills!  Lady looked at me like I dropped in from outer space  5hrug rgmn!!  Tried it in Florida too...they knew what it was, but said it was too much to have it shipped in from Trenton.  Most recently in Vermont, the local bagel shop had a "NJ Bagel."  That's the only way they know Taylor Ham or Pork Roll up there!  Pretty funny.  Now I know why NJ transplants always ask to have pork roll shipped to them around the holidays!

Who would have thought that greasy, processed Taylor Ham/Pork Roll would be exquisite to NJ?!?! Sort of like the oil containers of Northern NJ  rofla hhppy!
