Lake Ontairo Fishing Report 9/7
« on: September 07, 2008, 05:31:18 PM »
Just got back from the lake, fished 110 -70 FOW. Went 3 for 5 all kings. The fish are still headed in and loads of time to still fish for them. Two of the fish were still silver witch means they are not ready to run the river. I spoke with the guy at the fish cleaning station and he said 50% of the fish he is seeing are silver. I saw one fish jump in the river and a few people fishing.
Back up next Friday and do it again!

I hope so Joe.
I guy I fished with showed me another way to fish using copper line. Most of the hits came on the copper line rod. Guess what I bought one. $300.00 for the reel loaded with line.

Better work!!!

Now I will have to add another rod to the pile. LOL

Tell dad to get in a boat! The fish are all there yet and a long way from it. I had 70 water temp and could not get to 50 till I was down at leas 70 ft. All of the fish are still on the bottom in the cold water., marked them all over. Looks like a late run this year.

No
$300.00
I think the reel, copper line and the power pro backing was something around $245.00. The bill at the tackle shop was around $300.00 with a few little extra things.

We figured it was around $15.00 more if I bought everything and spooled it myself. I walked out with it ready to go and with working all week. going up Friday night, 5hr drive, up at 0400, fish and back to bed at 2200. Up at 0400 on Sunday, fish till 1200, 5hr drive home and work the week to do it all again

It was worth the $15.00 for the time.

Damn I HATE copper!   Reeling in 600 ft of that stuff is like tile fishing in the canyons.
Bottom line though is it does produce.
I'm amazed the run is taking this long to materialze.  Where did you launch from this week?

Went out of the big Salmon.
Yea All of the hits except two was on the copper. A little tuff to fish with the boat traffic, just went outside and ran 400'. Came inside running 300' when the traffic slowed up and that worked to.

Sounds like you had to really work for the fish!  I was trying to be funny when I said $30...that's what you told your wife you paid for it right.  I always move the decimal point over one place when she asks how much I spent on my fishing stuff rofla!
