Hey Abit,

Just put your camera in a zip-lock bag.  Works for me. t^

i actually have one of those simms dry bags that go around your neck.....sometimes it still gets some moisture inside of it.  that shows why i didnt have a pic of the bass from today.  maybe the zip lock will help.

I'd be willing to enter the tourny but I don't have the needed posts yet.
My brother would most likely be interested as well but he isn't even a
member as of now. I could probably make the posts but don't know if my
brother could. Let me know what you think.

The new members joining would be fine. Just so we get a few posts, giving a hi there sort of thing. Not a real biggie.

As far as Abit's question on the dollar bill, yes, to verify the ruler.

As far as Abit's question about old pic. This leads to the question, How do we know the fish in the picture is the one the person submitted it caught. It could be someone who was fishing next to him, etc. ALL tournaments are run with the perception that the entrants are for the most part an honest person. Even the boat tournaments. If there was not an official tournament observer on the boat, there is no way to tell if the fish was their's or not. Some things you just have to take as being the truth.  t^

We shall see by the end of the week if this thing is going to fly. If not, maybe someone can take it over and do a one day tournament as Nick said. But my thoughts were, more could have an opportunity to fish the tournament if it was a month long.

Rod said it all in his post...only fishing one day cause that's all he needs to win!  TT^

Good luck to all.

Nick, there are ALOT of guys who zero out on the beach many times.

Typically not as productive as on a boat. On the boat you can go find the fish instead of having to wait for the fish to come to you.  TT^

Well you can count me in. I'll tell my brother to sign up and introduce
himself, but he said he's in as well. Should I send payment now or wait
until Friday to see if this will be happening?

I have been fishing the last couple of days and haven't been able to comment.  I like the month long tournament.  I was like 0-15 until yesterday and today!  That is probably a low number too.  There have been times I have gone months without catching from the surf.  This gives people the ability to pick and choose better, for example, time of day with tides and moons.  I like the flexibility as well.  Hopefully we get enough participants.

Quite honestly, if someone wants to cheat that badly in a friendly competition for a few bucks...they can have my money!  I entered to support the type of fishing I do and to have a little fun over the month.

Like I said, hopefully enough people will enter...if not, I will still keep surf fishing and thank those who tried to make it happen!!

Adjacent waters to NJ would be ok to fish.  t^

If there are not enough sign ups today, this will have to be cancelled.  :P

Decision will be made at the end of the day.

This tournament is being cancelled.

There was not enough sign ups to make it happen where it would have been worth while for the winners.

I would like to thank everyone who did sign up and a special thanks goes out to rgswildlife, bulletbob and Dick's sporting goods for their generous offers for prizes.

Although this did not take off like we thought it would we will not back off on having a tournament for the land locked guys. We will regroup and discuss as to what needs to be done to make this more appealing for more people. Anyone wishing to make any comments or suggestions about this, please feel free to do so.

I hope everyone enjoys the great fall fishing that lies ahead. Best of luck to all.

Well that sure stinks!!  I was hoping more people would be interested and sign up...but it just wasn't meant to happen this time.  Thanks to the Admin/Committee for trying to give us sud pounders a Tournament.  IMO, I think this was one of the better thought out competitions with really great rules, at least for me slt!

...And for giving me a reason to persuade my wife that I needed a new surf rod and digital camera for the tournament rofla hhppy!  So, it is all not bad ;D!

rofla rofla At least something good came out of it.

No one is giving up hope. I am sure with a few tweeks here and there, we can come up with some kind of competition for the surf rats. Even if it's just a 'hey, guys, let's all meet at such and such a place, catch fish and get the grill going.'

Anyone with any suggestions on a good date and place, start posting so we have time to put something together. Let's all get involved.  t^
