Hit the surf from 1645 hours until 1945 hours. Worked the incoming and up through high tide. Strong ESE wind 10-15mph, surf was rough with wave after wave after wave being pushed in by the east wind. Extremely churned up and very heeavy undertoe. Waves were 2-4ft with some occassional bigger ones coming in. Maybe 10 people fishing, more to the south into IBSP.
The hole was occupied by 3 guys fishing so I worked my way north into Seaside Park. I threw my normal lures with a teaser this time. Saw a bunch of sea robins landed on bait. Had some birds start working at the border or S Seaside Park into IBSP. Started as just a few, as they continued south into IBSP it was a full out blitz. Decided against trying to jump back in the car and chase them down
. Another group of birds working about 1/4-1/2 mile off the beach in a small pod. Had a good amount of mullet and rainfish in the surf. Tons of weeds and jellyfish(enough to feed all the sea turtles in NJ)! Saw 1 cocktail blue taken on bait at the Top O' the Mast Hole, but nothing else.
It was a pretty bad day on the beach, condition wise. It was nicer in the rain the other day. Good couple hours out casting and walking the beach, though. Water is still quite warm...warmer than the air.
