Just got back from an action packed morning of BAY bottom fishing on the Island Princess. I kept 10 JUMBO scup, 7 seabass, and 2 plump triggerfish which made for a very enjoyable 1/2 day (7am-11am). Throwback seabass were also plentiful as rods were bending all morning. Thanks to Capt. Nick and crew for a very nice trip.
As an aside, I was shocked to see how light the crowds were on most of the boats this morning. People complained all summer about tossing back fluke, yet nobody is around when you can catch your fill of some truly tasty critters. If you want to get a kid hooked on fishing, now's the time. From what I hear, the bottom fishing is action packed in New Jersey and I know for a fact that it's good on Long Island's North Shore, South Shore, East End, etc... The striper boats are also getting action. Before you THINK it's too cold, grab a youngster & pick a boat and go!!!
Sorry, pix are from my phone.
