left home at 6 this morning with regular fishing buddies Dave and John, picked up 2 dozen sandworms and a small container of shucked clams at Freds.launched at Sayreville and headed out to open bay, made one stop in the river at the Drydock and tossed some metal and poppers looking for bluefish but nothing, headed out and stopped in the Triangle area and made a couple long drifts and nothing, then headed up to the 19 can in the reach and made a couple drifts but nothing again,to many boats in this area, moved farther up the reach to get off by ourselves, again nothing, then headed over to the Keansburg area where we had success with the blues last time out and set up trolling with an umbrella rig with mostly green and some blue shad on it and a single pole with a deep diver lure on it,covered a good area going in all directions for about 45 minutes,we never did really see any birds working to get on to something, then headed back bay and set up drifting in the Red Bank Reach around noon and ended up with a steady pick of 16 to 17 inch fluke on sandworms that were released,at least it gave us some action so we didn't get the skunk for the day.didn't really see any fish caught around us.it was a beautiful day on the water,we headed for home around 1:30.
