Search for Weakies/Stripers 9-22
« on: September 23, 2008, 09:24:23 AM »
Headed out with my brother-in-law Brian to see if the weakies or stripers were around.  Had two dozen sandworms and netted peanuts in the AH amongst the sails.  They were a little rough getting to them with limited surface activity to show their presence.  Scattered marks on the bottom created a hit or miss condition.  We ended up getting a dozen and a half.  Enough for an exploratory.

Set up on anchor in the old orchard area to have one decent run off and a miss.  A couple blue fish made an appearance as one the baits came back to the boat bit in half.  Action was slow for the hour we stayed put.   Pulled anchor and drifted toward the reach when the line begins to peel off.  Plenty of fight on the other end and the bend in the rod was real good.  Half way in and no tell tale sign at the surface, the fight gave up just as quick.  Doggie time!

Checked out Keansburg, Keyport flats and Princess bay only to find no one home.  For the day...  two doggies, one sea robin, 18 peanuts, no weaks, no stripes and a few cold ones ;)

Till next time.... the stripes should be here shortly.
