A fluke was the winner? 5hrug  I didn't realize "out of season" fish were even eligible.  Very strange. ::)

BTW, is there a site that posts all the winners?

I understand that there was an exemption made for the GOVERNER'S TOURNAMENT that allowed fluke. As long as it was a legal fluke IF THE SEASON WAS OPEN it was legal for this tournament

IT MUST BE NICE TO HAVE PULL LIKE THAT!!!

ANY OTHER TOURNAMENT THEY WOULD HAVE TOLD THEM TO STICK IT WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE, NO FLUKE FOR YOU.

Close the season for the real fishermen and allow a closed season fish to count for the governor's tournament. SUCH A CROCK!  rgmn rgmn rgmn

no stripers were caught rgmn rgmn

i dont know why they opened fluke but they did, all other years only fish with open seasons were allowed so the past few years i have caught fluke but had to release it and not count it cause the season was already closed, this year for some reason they went and opened it, i dont agree with it but i dont make the rules,,,

well let me go start  a thread with my report

Good point Bayonne. Season seems to get started a month later than it did a few years ago.

Funny you should mention that Joe.  When I handed the card to the NJ rep. He looked at it and said something like "Oh Great it looks like the Fluke will be the winner.  Were going to get a lot of mail on this one".   5hrug t^

Yeah Paul. Things seem to be a month behind lately.

As far as the NJ rep's statement of a lot of mail...I know it is a great tournament they have for the families, but to allow a fish  with a closed season to be kept just for this particular tournament is a slap in the face to every fluke fisherman in this state.

I hear ya,  I feel the same way, but the Palitico seem to not care.  BTW the Gov decided to show up early in the morning for a ride on the beach and then he left  :P

What a great state to live in, double  :P :P

so- let me see if I got this right-
I'm the gov and if you're my driver you can speed and drive crazily and wait also keep out of season fish only if you get in my tourny?
huh?  5hrug

that's just wrong
guess all it takes is money or you know someone
it's not really about rebuilding the fluke fishery at all...

what kind of hypocritical message does this send to Joe Sixpack? This state gets more mucked up every day.

I know- let's have an NJSWF out of season fluke tourney. We'll open it up to all fluke, not just those 18" and longer, give them all an equal chance. We'll get the gov to buy in and we can donate the entry fees to pay whoever gets caught's tickets. We should call it "It's Ok for the Gov so it's Ok for us outtaseason fluke-em-up" or "kill 'em all before the gov does" or "fluke you Magnusson and Stevens" or something like that

sorry had to vent

(typed with much sarcasm!)  Now, now, don't get all upset over out of season fluke!  It was not a politician flexing his muscles...I read that it was a 1 day study only on IBSP!!

OK, I can't be serious anymore.  TOO MUCH.  I wish I could have fished yesterday where I wanted to for some fluke to keep and eat.  Only in NJ.

Thanks Joe,  I wonder why it was not in the APP as they were there snapping pics and doing interviews?  Oh well, better late than never.

I was glad to be part of the tournament and help out but I am doubly glad to have measured and signed the card of the fish that won the Governors Cup.  Pretty Cool.

No coaching needed...but I did do a double take when I saw him walking up for the weigh in.
