Originally had a group of 4 scheduled to fish today's trip, but 2 of the people had to back out due to unforeseen work and family related issues late yesterday, so it was Pete Pellack and Bluefish Steve aboard for today's trip.
Started out throwing shads at the bridges in the river, just had some micro bass in the 12-16" range inhale the shads, but that was it once the sun came up high in the sky.
We then ran outside, ran up north. Found some birds sort of working/hovering over some sandeels, and we got into a very slow pick of some big alligator blues in the 12-15# range on both jigs and topwater plugs. Once the SE wind came on, that was done.
We then ran back to the south, to fish the AC Reef for a few drops in 60-80' of water, and had a slow pick of 10-12" seabass; spots seemed picked over though.
Finally, we went to a tog spot and as has been the case lately, that's the only game in town which has been producing fish consistently. The three of us burned through 4 + dozen crabs in no time, and even caught fish on clam tongues. Boated at least 50 tog, keeping our 3; and probably had about a half dozen more keepers.
Good trip, great crew, and man was it a GORGEOUS day on the water!
