I will post some pictures of the ones I tie later.  I am tying them with something called super hair.  I like it simply because it is kinkie and being so throws light around better.

I also put in some (very little) black along the lateral lines so to speak just to break up the simplicity of the red.

I am going to use a red Gamakatsu 2/0 for some this afternoon again pictures to follow.

Happy Catching

Here are 3 teasers I just tied this morning.  The top and bottom ones were tied with artificial hair and the middle one was with bucktail.  I used .006 mono thread to tie the heads and Head Cement to lock everything in place.

The top hood is a 5/0 circle that I have done well with on the ocean side the bottom 2 are 2/0 Octopus  all by Gamakatsu.

I hope this helps.  These were tied fast so excuse the roughness to the look.  When they are wet they take on an altogether different look.

Just posted the teasers wet.

Nice teasers, Paul!  I like the look of the bucktail, of course if the super/synthetic hair has better capabilities in the water...nothing wrong with a kinkie teaser >:D!

I did have a chance to stop over at acouple areas that the locals have been fishing...... and found the reports to be the same..... Good fishing after dark and under the lights....
I have not had the same luck, but will continue to look for the bass in some of the places I do enjoy fishing...... Any day know the fish will turn on all over the bay
The areas I fish are the ones you said where a wast of time

I did get some calls from the guys I know fishing the back country of the Barnegate Bay this week...... The reports of nice bass and some Blue fish along with a couple Weakfish mixed in are strating to show up.

Most of the kayak fisherman are fishing in very shallow water 3-4 feet.....These areas heat up much better the the deep water.

The far west side of the bay were the grass marsh areas hold some of the small bait fish are also areas that can be fished with a kayak....You could even park along the roads and take the walk out if you wanted.....Boots would be recommended because these areas are wet lands.

The back side of Island Beach State Park should strat to come alive with the Bluefish and Weakfish....... Keep your eyes on the weather this week.

Thanks for the report Dave.  I will be working on the Kayak starting tomorrow as our dinner will be early so it gives me tome in the afternoon to take th eboat down off the ceiling and start working in her.

This year I will be putting on the outriggers and the anchor traveler system as well.  Looking forward to a grreat year on the back waters.

Well the change in the weather seem to have cooled the air and also the kayak fisherman as well....I sure didnt see many guys out the last couple days.

I did happen to be talking with a good friend of mine down in the lower part of the Barnegate Bay who told me the Weakfish and Bluefish showed up in good numbers last week...... This should mean that we should see the action heat up in our waters this week.

If I hear of anything..... I will pass the word on to everone.

Thanks Dave, I have one more chore to do on the kayak, and that is to put on the anchor traveler.  I hope to get it done today and maybe get out this coming week.

I have seen larger than normal cars parked at A21 so I guess the season is in full swing down there.

Hey sorry....... I have been cheating some and fishing from a friends boat up off of Long Branch and Monmouth Beach the last couple weeks.

I will be going back to the kayak now that the bunker are in and thats what the bass are feeding on in our area.......The bunker have been in and out all week along the beach......Just need to be in the right place at the right time.

The back bay is still holding a good body of fish dead center in the middle of the bay....I have never caught fish in this area before so its a little crazy......But who cares its good fishing to be had for the kayak fisherman..... If you want to fish this area send me a message I will get back to you.....On the spot to fish with the yak.

Took out my Hobie/Outback for opening day fluke. Fished inside and found good action on jigs tipped with gulp. Lots of fish and 2 keepers to 19".

well the spring season has come to and end..... I would like he hear how some others folks made out with kayak fishing around the area..... I myself for the first time in years didnt do all that great with bass fishing our local waters.

March and April started off great with some good reports of big fish both in the bay and the ocean front.....The bass were big and healthy.

The boats were sure doing well in the monmouth county area from just off the beach to out in 60 ft of water.

May and June again strated off great with some large schools of big bass chasing bunker pods all over the beach..... both surf casters and kayak fishing was looking good.....Then as the weeks moved on things just started to go down hill from there.

Well I know the season is not over because the phone rang at 5 am to let me know the bunker was on the beach and the bass where blowing up on the pods...... I just wish I didnt have to work or I could have fished with the rest of you today.

Looking forward to doing some fluke fishing this summer with the kayak....... Hope to see ya on the water.

Be Safe

Fished with my friend Chris each of us in a Hobie Outback yesterday in our local area. We had nice fluke fishing with lots of action. We each took 3 keepers to just over 19". It was hot but worth the effort. Gulp/jigs were all we used.  ;D

Sounds like the Gulp/Jigs was all you needed.  Good going, I will be out sometime this week hopefully.  Had to take the Expedition in for repair and it is due back today.

Again good catching.

Hit the local fluke again today in my Hobie. Air was cooler and the fluke were hot. Caught the first limit of 6 on the kayak up to 22". Gulp/jigs was it for me. I can get used to this kind of action  ;D
