Question
« on: December 27, 2008, 07:59:58 PM »
How can two boats in New Jersey have the same name?  There is an Atlantic Star in the Atlantic Highlands (I've fished on it, the Captain is a nice guy) and I just found out there is another Atlantic Star in Wildwood, NJ.

I was just courious.

Take care!

I'm assuming it's just a name..  Not their business Name.

Like Rod said, a name is just a name as long as its not a business name that once you get a LLC for, then you own the name.  The boats may be named the same, but I am sure the owner of the operation has his business under another.

Even with a business name, if they are seperated by a large area they can have the same name. After all, how many "Tony's Pizzas" do you know. I am sure there are a thousand of them in the US. But they are far enough away where one will not be confused with another.

That is typically one of the thing that is looked at. If both being named the same would cause confusion.
