Well... I went out to the northern walkway part where everyone fishes and caught a suntan and a few rocks. I was there yesterday morning as well and saw a few baby stripers being caught and thrown back (thank God), but no keepers. Got a few bites, but nothing hooked.
Does anyone else on this board live/fish around here... I'd be interested to hear more reports. It's very close to where I live and a nice getaway (especially on the weekdays), but I've been skunked there more often than not. If the weather holds up, I'll be out there again though. ;)

I fish that area from a boat this time of year.have a great time catch n release bass on white bucktails.fish under the barges with 1/2 oz bucktails and teasers.using freshwater gear you can have a blast.30-50 fish trips common.cast and pump the bucktails in,it drives them nuts.

yes im from jersey city and i fish liberty often but not as much lately i have been down exchange place area some and bayonne. Its the same story all up here you will hear about a keeper here and there but for the most part nothing but shorts and ling. I dont understand it myself around this time last year I saw a mini blitz on bunker in liberty park and i caught more fish then i ever did. Really i was catching one after another and lost a couple. I have pics on my facebook and most of the bass and blues was in like a 2 day period right in liberty but this year nothing like that.

Catching shorts is fun too.. t^

can be hit or miss useing bunker chunks and worms and bucktailing works good and casting metal or swimming plugs dawn and dusk tend to be best for bait fishing i caught fish from bayonne to edgewater from the shore this time of year the chart house and the crab house up in edgewater and i never fish it but exchange place is good aswell

it bin a up and down year we got most of the big fish in the spring a few in the summer but once the bait was gone it was hit or miss last year when we had bait it was good i hope its better next year get some bait in the river and i hope the big bass come back in good numbers t^ chrz chrz

So you think thats it for the hudson this year? I been hearing about the bass in south jersey so have they already passed us? How long can you catch the ling and white perch? and is there anything else that can be caught, i was suprise to see dogfish and skates come out of the hudson in bayonne area
-
well there are big bass that stay all year but u will work hard for them i have hooked up a few times late in december

I went out yesterday and got about a 10" short striper... Bites all day, but nothing to really reel in. Seems to be all baby stripers there now. Supposed to be near 60ยบ next week, so I'll try it again.

Well went out to bayonne damn near same water area as liberty park. 1 short blackfish but one guy was leaving with a nice big blackfish..I asked the tackle shop a few days ago should i use steal leaders because of blues and he said no blues are gone. lol well we was catching skates and ling then out of no where my line takes off and stops, im holding the pole thinking mayble a big skate and line starts taking off again, well we thought it was a bass but low and behold it was a gator blue and didnt even bite through the mono leader. I really think now its some fish still around

Went out there again yesterday... non-stop bite... all shorts... this one was about 11"-12". Hopefully they'll grow big & strong and be back in the future as monsters... All looked very healthy and lively.

Nice going Skutch! Looks like you're using a turkey sandwich for bait! ;D
