Liberty State Park-Jersey City
« on: November 28, 2011, 06:03:36 PM »
Well... I went out to the northern walkway part where everyone fishes and caught a suntan and a few rocks. I was there yesterday morning as well and saw a few baby stripers being caught and thrown back (thank God), but no keepers. Got a few bites, but nothing hooked.

Does anyone else on this board live/fish around here... I'd be interested to hear more reports. It's very close to where I live and a nice getaway (especially on the weekdays), but I've been skunked there more often than not. If the weather holds up, I'll be out there again though. ;)

I fish that area from a boat this time of year.have a great time catch n release bass on white bucktails.fish under the barges with 1/2 oz bucktails and teasers.using freshwater gear you can have a blast.30-50 fish trips common.cast and pump the bucktails in,it drives them nuts.

yes im from jersey city and i fish liberty often but not as much lately i have been down exchange place area some and bayonne.  Its the same story all up here you will hear about a keeper here and there but for the most part nothing but shorts and ling.  I dont understand it myself around this time last year I saw a mini blitz on bunker in liberty park and i caught more fish then i ever did.  Really i was catching one after another and lost a couple.  I have pics on my facebook and most of the bass and blues was in like a 2 day period right in liberty but this year nothing like that.

can be hit or miss useing bunker chunks and worms and bucktailing works good and casting metal or swimming plugs dawn and dusk tend to be best for bait fishing i caught fish from bayonne to edgewater from the shore this time of year the chart house and the crab house up in edgewater and i never fish it but exchange place is good aswell

I went out yesterday and got about a 10" short striper... Bites all day, but nothing to really reel in. Seems to be all baby stripers there now. Supposed to be near 60ยบ next week, so I'll try it again.
