Saw some orientals on the OE today fileting bergalls and having a sashimi lunch with wasabi and soy sauce.
I know they are edible and think they are a member of the Blackfish family.
New experience. Anyone try it? 5hrug
-
me no,, but i do know people who eat them,,,
i guess pretty much every fish is edible, depends on what youre used to eating and what you are willing to try'

Where I dock the owner rents boats, most of the clients are Oriental.........it is most humorous to watch them purchase 2 pints of kellies, and then to watch them eating some of the Kellies before they go out..... bngh bngh bngh 5hrug 5hrug 5hrug nosmly nosmly cfzd cfzd cfzd cfzd thud thud thud thud

Wing, that's my standard opinion on any sushi or sashimi. I know a lot of people (expecially a lot of guys here) like it, but I don't like it at all. TT^
-
Give wasabi and soy sauce, I probably will eat almost any fish. Like I said almost any fish.

We have it at LEAST 1x per week. If you are in North Jersey anywhere close to Lincoln Park, I have a GREAT place that has all you can eat sushi for 21.95. Roles, hand roles, pieces and even the exotic rolls like rainbow, green dragon, spider, etc as part of the deal :)
Always fresh!
-
I'm talking about the strength of the wasabi. Being Polish, I can remember my dad and grandfather would go out back and grind their own horseradish. You want to talk about strong, WOW.

No offense against the Orientals but is there any thing that swims they won't eat ???
-
Coney Island Whitefish?
-
Yea Mike that was some good stuff........I have a place by me we need to try sometime I am there 1-2 times a week TT^
They know me well ;D
Where in Lincoln Park? I live in Butler and love sushi.

Mr. Sushi of Rte. 202. :)
-
Bergalls? Haven't tried em, but wasabi and soy make almost anything taste better...
Sushi/Sashimi?
Sono in Middletown - VG and V consistent. Turned on quite a few o my peeps to them....
If I don't want to drive to Middletown then Suzuki in Metuchen... not in the same league but good, and close to me. Or Megumi, also Metuchen, where you can also get Chinese (but I'm not a big fan of Chinese)
NYC? Yama in Gramercy Park MMMMMMMMMMMMM
They got one in the Village too but I have not been there...
Mr. Sushi sounds like a Mr. Must-try if I am ever in that area.... chrz
-
Yep. It is a straight up Japanese sit down rest that happens to have the 21.95 all u can eat special. Fri and Saturday nights they have no less then 3 sushi chefs on, sometimes 4 when real busy :)
I also have to go with my man Young Gull to his place one day as I KNOW they take care of him well over there.
-
Jeez.. all this sushi talk is making me hungry :-\
-
:)

Don't cook tonight, Mr. Sushi....

I'm trying to convince my husband 5hrug

Sashimi it is for me :)

One of the nicer places by us if the Sushi Bar at Shogun. A bit pricey but good. If you like the middle of the road there is Ha Na although I heard that went down hill.
There is a place in Seaside Heights that we use to go to a lot and that is Fumi's it is a small mom and pop place next to the BamBoo Bar. Great food...
Happy Catching

those places in Metuchen, how would you rate them,,, I live like 5 minutes from there and never tried them \....I'm the only one in my house that eats it, so i always hve to find place that suits the rest of the family,,,, bngh bngh
Redheads (resturant with pool hall right next to it) right off of exit 105 used to have all you can eat sushi and they were good,, now still have sushi but no more all you can eat :'( :'( :'(
-
Mr. Pi's is OK........most of the true Japanese sushi restaurants in the woodbridge area are gone (Hamako and Kyoto). Many are run by Koreans and Chinese, and are not up to the standards of a Japanese sushi master.
In addition to sashimi, I favor the "little dish" appetizers as you can have lots of flavors and textures washed down with an Asahi Super Dry beer. chrz

Metuchen- go Suzuki. New age music on endless loop gets a bit annoying but it's a BYO so that's good. Megumi a bit inconsistent, but they have Chinese also if your guests are not sushi-friendly. Also BYO too, so go on and live it up....
-
O yea, Redheads Eatontown also good but pricey and have not been there inawhile either.

Had sashimi over the weekend at the new A1 Japaneese Steak House in Toms River. Had 6pm reservations, made me wait until 6:45. was I pissed! I wanted to leave but my wife wanted to wait for the habachi table. 5hrug Food and Fish was Great. New place, just opened Jan 1st, third restruant the owners have opened. Guess they just have to work out the kinks. <'((((><
