LATEST NEWS: Fishing crew comes to aid of disabled boat

From Press staff reports

Published: Saturday, March 14, 2009
CAPE MAY 9:30 p.m. Update - A fishing company from Ocean City came to the rescue of a pleasure boat that became disabled Friday afternoon about 60 nautical miles off the coast, the coast Guard said. The Coast Guard, which did not respond, received a call at 2:57 p.m. Friday that a 22-foot pleasure boat had become disabled, said Petty Officer Jason Szczurowski of the Delaware Bay sector in Philadelphia. The North Star Express, a fishing vessel based in Ocean City, volunteered to go to the boat and rescue the passengers and bring them to shore, Szczurowski said. The disabled boat was left anchored at sea until repairs could be made.

I've seen this boat out there when I was seabassing a few times down there.

See the little kid on the console? I hear he was out when they got rescued.  nosmly  nosmly  nosmly

Not only were they out there on the two days I was out, the people I was out with said they saw them when ever they came out. It's hard not to believe they were not selling the fish somewhere, and the kid was another 25 fish.

My brother and brother in law go 45 miles off the coast of Chincoteague, VA every year in my brother and I's 23" center console.  (Granted my boat looks a lot safer than that one.)  Usually come back with at least two giant fish.  (mahi/blue or yellowfin tuna)  I won't go.  I told them I'll go on a charter with a captain and a bigger boat.  They are nuts but they always come back with the goods.  Then, it's fresh sushi grade grilled tuna and lots of beer.   chrz
