Picked up a set of rods for a decent price. They have roller stripper and tip only, rest are normal guides.
One has a bad guide with a bent roller tip. Another has just a bad guide.
On the roller it is an aftco, and says 14. Safe to assume that is 14/64" since that is how they are sized?
For one of the guides I measure 11mm ID from a good guide on other rod, which would be a size 16 fuji?
The other guide I measure 7mm ID from good guide on other rod, which would be fuji size 10?
How to best go about removing the current guides, heat gun and razor blade?
Is there a special thread to put back on?
What about the epoxy? Regular stuff you can buy anywhere? Or have to use some special rod epoxy?
I'm totally aware these are not gonna turn out as new, but as long as new guides are put on correctly and don't look like crap I will be satisfied.
Also I do not have a set up to spin the rods as I thread them or apply the epoxy, I'm gonna have to do it the hard way and hand spin them. I can easily make up two boards with a V notch to hold the rod as i do work on them.
