Into the first week of Summer with very typical weather conditions with a mix of sun and rain this week, but water conditions will be border line, much of the week. Monday will start the week off dry with rain and/or thunderstorms moving in later on Tuesday and continue into Wednesday. 1-2 inches of rain could fall over much of the state during these two days. Rain will clear out for Thursday and Friday remaining dry for both of these days. Temperatures will be in the 70’s and 80’s with cooler temperatures along the coast. Overnight lows will be in the upper 50’s to low 70’s with cooler temperatures across the north and warmest lows along the coast. Humidity will be moderate to high, increasing towards midweek. Water conditions will be mixed from good on certain days and then border line to Cautious other days and this will vary by location. For the most part, Monday will be good, but a southerly/southeasterly flow at 10-15 knots will begin to setup with seas still around 2 feet. Tuesday will be good until afternoon when winds could increase up to 20 knots with seas increasing to 3 feet, but still below SCA criteria. Tuesday could have fog during the morning hours. Tuesday Night through Thursday winds will continue up to 20 knots with seas increasing to 4 feet and conditions just below SCA criteria. Tuesday and Wednesday will have possible thunderstorms and conditions in and around storms will be greater than forecast. Thursday and Friday winds will continue up to 20 knots with seas building to 5 feet triggering possible Small Craft Advisories. Conditions do look to improve into the weekend. Water temperatures are steady. Surf conditions will be OK to Good this week, echoing water conditions. Winds will possible up to 20 knots with potential rougher surf and wave heights 2-4 feet for most of the week. Rip Current Risk will be Low to Moderate. Rivers and bays are in the upper 60’s to mid to upper 70’s. Surf temperatures are in the upper 60’s to low 70’s. Ocean waters are in the low to mid 60’s. Offshore waters are in the upper 60’s now. UV Index will be Moderate to Very High.
The area of high pressure will continue to move east off the coast into Monday. A low pressure system will lift northeast from the Southern High Plains into the Ohio Valley by midweek. A cold front should move through the region Wednesday or early Thursday. A high pressure system over the Great Lakes on Thursday will slowly move east for the rest of the week as the cold front stalls just south of the area.
The Atlantic is quiet. There is an area in the E. Pacific being watched.
The weekend looks like a continuation of the end of the week with dry and sunny conditions. High temperatures will continue in the 80’s inland and mid to upper 70’s along the coast. Overnight lows will be in the 60’s and 70’s as humidity will continue to be moderate to high. Water, surf and beach conditions will be OK to Good. Winds could be gusty on Saturday and then subsiding for Sunday. Saturday will be border line right now at this point.
