Another mixed week, looking much better than the last few weeks with mixed water conditions. Monday will see decreasing clouds and increasing sun with dry conditions. Tuesday and Wednesday will see a chance of snow showers with little to no accumulation at this point. Thursday and Friday look dry again. Sun will be more present this week and as season change approaches, more predominant in the sky with higher UV indices and longer days/daylight. Monday will have icy conditions possible as standing water and melted snow, refreeze tonight and into the morning. Temperatures will still be cold this week with highs in the 20’s to 30’s with overnight lows ranging from the negatives to 20’s. Water conditions will be cautious with Small Craft Advisories on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Tuesday, however looks like good conditions. Some days may be more borderline as well, such as Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. However, Monday will be a solid Cautious day as winds will gust beyond 30 knots. Surf and beach conditions will be good, despite some gustier winds and rougher surf with wave heights 2-4 feet for the week. Water temperatures are steady in the 20’s and 30’s with low 40’s offshore. UV Index will be Moderate at 3-4/15 for most of the week.

High pressure will build out of the central part of the country on Monday and into the area on Monday Night into early Tuesday. An area of low pressure is forecast to move along the southern tier of Canada Tuesday into Wednesday, pulling a cold front across the East Coast on Wednesday. High pressure is expected to return again late Thursday into Friday and continue into the weekend.

The weekend will have some lower chances of precipitation on Saturday and Sunday. Highs will be in the 20’s and 30’s with lows in the teens and 20’s. Water, surf and beach conditions look good and improving throughout the weekend.

Have a great week and thanks for reading!

Re: Potential for Accumulating Snow Southern NJ Wednesday-Thursday
« Reply #2 on: February 25, 2015, 12:45:16 PM »
There is the potential for accumulation snow, south and east of the I95 Corridor Wednesday Night into Thursday. This system was supposed to stay well south of the state, but the last few model runs have indicated the possibility of a slightly more northern track. Right now Cape May County, Cumberland and Atlantic Counties will see accumulations from 1-2 inches and then under an inch. However, the afternoon models indicated snow potential into Ocean County of a few inches and even more south of Ocean County. So, this will be something to watch today. I will have a full update by this afternoon. If you live in these areas, it will be worth keeping an eye on today because it will affect the morning commute.

Re: Wednesday Update on Snow Wednesday Night - Thursday Morning
« Reply #3 on: February 25, 2015, 04:33:10 PM »
A Winter Storm forecast to stay south of the state has taken a more northerly track and will bring accumulating snow to most of the state, with highest totals in Southern NJ. This will be a quick event starting late tonight with the bulk coming Thursday Morning and ending by early afternoon.

Be safe! Updates to follow. Max snowfall totals are definitely possible based off of some of the short range models.
