A bit unsettled weather pattern this week, but overall the weather, temperatures and water conditions will be good.  While the weather will be slightly unsettled, there is nothing major or dramatic taking place this week.  It should be a typical Summer Week with typical Summer Weather.  High temperatures inland will be seasonable in the mid to upper 80’s with low 80 along/on the water.  Overnight lows will range from mid 60’s to low 70’s.  Overall, air will be drier with dew points in the 50’s and 60’s and humidity normal for this time of year.  There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday Night through Thursday overnight, clearing out for Friday Morning.  These will be lower chances with mostly isolated or scattered storms.  Sun over clouds will prevail this week.  Water conditions are rated good for all locations with no indication of conditions nearing or reaching Small Craft Advisory levels.  Winds will vary this week out of the west-northwest, northwest and south.  Winds will be calm most days under 10 knots with Thursday picking up to 15 knots.  Seas will run around 5 feet for Midshore to Offshore areas on Monday subsiding to 2-3 feet during the week.  Inshore seas will run 2-3 feet all week.  Water temperatures have cooled off by a few degrees.  All areas could see a long period swell up 14 seconds on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Rivers and bays are in the upper 70’s.  Inshore ocean waters are in the low 70’s.  Midshore to Offshore waters are in the mid to upper 70’s.  Surf temperatures are in the low 70’s.  Surf and beach conditions look good.  There is a chance of higher surf with an elevated, long period swell on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday that could bring Moderate to High Risk of rip currents.  UV Index will be Very High all week.

High pressure will build into the area for Monday and Tuesday and then move offshore on Wednesday.  A boundary to the south will move northward toward the area on Thursday.  Low pressure will develop along this boundary and then move across the southern parts of the region on Thursday Night and move east of the area on Friday.  Weak high pressure will then build in for the end of the week/weekend.

The weekend looks like it will be a continuation of the week again with some slightly higher temperatures reaching the upper 80’s inland and low to mid 80’s along/on the water with overnight lows in the 70’s.  Saturday Night will be a slight chance of isolated or scattered showers and thunderstorms, but the rest of the weekend looks sunny right now.  Water conditions and surf and beach conditions look good as well, with nothing obvious standing out.

The NHC is still watching the remnants of TS Dorian and an area off of New England.  This is not really a concern to our area or even the US right now.

Have a great week!

Good morning!  All of the rain and thunderstorms during the overnight have moved out the cold front has just about cleared the state.  Sunny skies today with an occasional cloud here and there.  The sun should help dry things out.  Many Western Counties saw 2-4 inches of rain yesterday with as many as 7 inches and areas of Philadelphia saw upwards of 8 inches of rain!  There are some Flood Warnings left over from yesterday for Southwestern NJ for stream and river flooding.  High temperatures today will be in the low 80's inland with mid 70's along/on the water.  Overnight lows in the low 60's inland and mid to upper 60's along/on the water.  The drier air should move in today making the humidity comfortable.  It will be dry today, with no showers or thunderstorms in the forecast.  Today looks like one of the better weather days the area has seen in quite a while.

Water conditions are rated good for all locations today, however Northern Inshore Waters and Offshore areas will have elevated seas around 5 feet all day.  Winds will be mostly calm predominantly out of the northwest and west.  Raritan Bay will have west winds around 5 knots becoming southwest late in the day and then west at 5-10 knots at night with seas 1 foot or less.  Barnegat Bay will have west-northwest winds 5-10 knots changing to the west in the afternoon and back to west-northwest at night with seas 1 foot or less.  Delaware Bay will have northwest winds 5-10 knots with seas 1-2 feet.  Inshore ocean waters will have west-northwest/north-northwest/northwest winds 6-11 knots changing to west/north-northwest winds in the afternoon at 4-9 knots with seas 3-5 feet at 7-8 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore waters will have northwest/north-northwest winds 6-9 knots changing to west-northwest/west winds 6-8 knots with seas 3-5 feet at 8 seconds.

Surf and beach conditions look OK today with a Moderate Risk of rip currents due to some rougher, higher surf with an elevated swell.  Winds are variable and calm this morning out of the west and north around 5 mph with rougher, higher surf around 3-4 feet.  Winds will continue out of the northwest around 5 mph with wave heights 3 feet with a 3 foot southeast swell at 8 seconds.  Surf temperatures are in the low 70's still.  UV Index Very High at 9/15.  Be careful in the water today!!

The remnants of TS Dorian have picked up some organization over the last day and it is possible it could organize and strengthen.  It looks like it will be going into Florida or the Gulf of Mexico.  Aircraft Recon is set to fly today, again to get some data from inside.  In the Central Pacific, Hawaii is already feeling the affects of Tropical Storm Flossie, which has not weakened as originally thought, although it is a weak tropical storm.  High winds and heavy rains will affect all of the islands today!

Have a great day!

Good morning!  It is looking like a nice day today and already a nice morning with a sunny, cool start to the day.  Just about a repeat of yesterday.  Clear and sunny skies with almost no clouds over the state.  Some "friendly" clouds may work their way in today, but skies will continue to be clear and sunny.  High temperatures will be in the low to mid 80's inland with upper 70's along/on the water.  Overnight lows in the low to mid 60's.  Humidity levels will be comfortable with drier air in place.  It will remain dry today with no rain or thunderstorms in the forecast.

Water conditions are rated good today with light winds and subsiding seas, however a long period, 14 second swell has made it inshore from the departing Low on Sunday.  Raritan Bay will will have northwest winds around 5 knots becoming southwest later today and then west tonight with seas 1 foot or less.  Barnegat Bay will have variable winds around 5 knots today becoming west-southwest tonight at 6-8 knots with seas 1 foot or less.  Delaware Bay will have northwest winds 5-10 knots diminishing to southwest at 5 knots tonight with seas 1-2 feet.  Inshore ocean waters will have northwest winds 6-10 knots becoming west-northwest/northwest 5-7 knots in the afternoon with seas 2-3 feet at 13-14 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore will have northwest/north-northwest winds 6-10 knots becoming west/west-northwest at 6-9 knots in the afternoon with seas 3-4 feet at 14 seconds.  Some Midshore locations may not see the full, long period swell and may see conditions closer to 7 seconds.

Surf and beach conditions look good with Low Risks of rip currents, calm winds and normal surf conditions.  Winds are calm and variable this morning mainly out of the west with normal surf and wave heights 1-2 feet.  Winds could continue to be variable because they are so light, however an overall northwest wind at 5-10 mph is possible with wave heights around 3 feet with a 3 foot southeast swell at 11 seconds.  Surf temperatures are in the low 70's still.  UV Index is Very High at 8/15.

TS Dorian remnants are still moving west-northwest with a low chance of becoming anything more than a tropical wave.

Rain will move in tomorrow, likely at night remaining scattered and continue through Thursday when it will become more widespread.  Sun will return on Friday and continue through the weekend with slightly warmer temperatures.  Water and surf conditions look good as well, so far.

Have a good day!

Good morning!  Another nice day and just about a repeat of the last two.  A mix of sun and clouds across the state this morning with mostly sunny skies becoming partly cloudy tonight.  Clouds will continue to build in overnight bringing rain tomorrow.  Some areas across the north and south are seeing more cloudy skies than others.  These are just fair weather clouds as high pressure is controlling the area.  Today will be dry with high temperatures in the low to mid 80's inland and mid to upper 70's along/on the water.  Overnight lows in the low to mid 60's.  Some areas may even see upper 50's tonight.  Air will continue to be drier for most of the day with lower dew points and humidity.  However, when the high pressure moves offshore, it could bring some more humid air across the area later today.

Water conditions are rated good today for all locations with a continued west wind presence this morning changing over to a southerly flow as high pressure moves over the water today and tomorrow. Winds and seas will remain calm with a longer period swell again.  Raritan Bay will have southwest winds around 5 knots changing to south later and increasing 5-10 knots tonight with seas 1 foot or less.  Barnegat Bay will have variable winds around 5 knots becoming SSW 5-10 knots tonight with seas 1 foot or less.  Delaware Bay will have west winds 5-10 knots becoming south in the afternoon and tonight with seas 1-2 feet.  Inshore ocean waters will have northwest/west-northwest winds 3-6 knots changing to the south (south-southeast & south-southwest) at 4-6 knots with seas 2 feet at 11-12 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore waters will have northwest winds 4-7 knots changing to west and then south winds 2-5 knots with seas 2-3 feet at 11-12 seconds.

Surf and beach conditions look good today with a Moderate Risk of rip currents.  Surf will be moderately rough today due to the longer period swell so be careful if you are venturing into the water!  Currently winds are variable and calm, mainly out of the west around 5 mph with slightly rougher surf around 1-2 feet.  Winds will be out of the west changing to the south this afternoon at 5-10 mph with wave heights around 2 feet with a 2 foot southeast swell at 11 seconds.  Surf temperatures are in the upper 60's to mid 70's.  UV Index is Very High at 8/15.

Tomorrow will bring the greatest chances of rain and maybe some thunderstorms with a generalized risk of severe weather and likely widespread or widely scattered rain across the state.  Water conditions will remain rated good, however a strong southerly flow will bring winds to 15+ knots and seas building to 3 feet.  Seas will continue to build over the next couple of day Offshore seeing seas to 5 feet by Friday.  The weekend is looking good across the boards right now.

Tropics are quiet!

Have a great day...

Good morning!  Cloudy across the state with some rain and some embedded thunderstorms across most of the state coming from the southwest moving northeast.  Rain could be heavy at times and Flash Flood Watches have been issued for Western and Northern Counties in NJ.  It looks like it will be wet all day today and into the overnight with widespread rain and thunderstorms.  Rain amounts could be over an inch with some areas receiving much higher amounts locally within areas of heavier rain.  Some thunderstorms could be strong to severe today with a generalized risk.  Thunderstorms could produce damaging winds, frequent lightning, heavy rain and tornadoes cannot be ruled out.  High temperatures inland will be in the low 80's with temperatures along/on the water in the upper 70's and muggy.  Overnight lows in the mid to upper 60's.  Lots of moisture in the air/atmosphere today.

Water conditions are rated good for this morning and then cautious this afternoon with conditions near or at Small Craft Advisory levels.  So Small Craft Advisories are possible this afternoon.  Winds and seas will increase as a cold front with an associated low pressure over the Ohio Valley meets a lifting warm front with an associated low.  Raritan Bay will have south winds 5-10 knots increasing to 10-15 knots with gusts to 20 knots later before changing and subsiding to west winds at 5-10 knots after midnight.  Seas will start out at 1 foot or less, increasing 1-2 feet this afternoon and then 1 foot or less again after midnight with limited visibility around 1-3 nautical miles.  Barnegat Bay will have south winds 9-13 knots becoming south-southwest around 10 knots tonight before changing to the west around 10 knots after midnight.  Seas will be 1 foot or less with possible limited visibility due to rain and thunderstorms.  Delaware Bay will have south winds 10-15 knots becoming southwest tonight with winds 10-15 knots with gusts to 20 knots before changing to the west at 5-10 knots after midnight with seas 2-3 feet.  Inshore ocean waters will have south/south-southeast winds 9-17 knots with the higher winds across southern areas becoming south 14-24 knots with seas 2 feet at 10 seconds becoming 3-4 feet at 9 seconds across the northern areas and 4-5 seconds across southern areas.  Midshore to Offshore will have south winds 8-12 knots increasing to 13-19 knots with seas 2-3 feet at 9 seconds.

Surf and beach conditions are OK with a Moderate Risk of rip currents today.  Currently winds are light out of the south/southeast at less than 5 mph with some rougher surf and wave heights 1-2 feet with some 3 foot waves.  Winds will increase out of the south at 10-15 mph with rough surf and wave heights 2-3 feet with a 2-3 foot southeast swell at 9 seconds.  Surf temperatures are in the low 70's.  UV Index High at 6/15.  If you venture to the beach, it will be wet and be alert for any embedded thunderstorms.

Have a great day!

Good morning!  Another nice day after  a rainy one yesterday.  Mostly sunny this morning with some clouds across Southern parts of NJ and fog/haze.  The clouds will clear out and the fog/haze will eventually "burn off."  It will continue to be sunny with some clouds mixed in becoming partly cloudy later tonight.  It will be dry today with no rain or storms in the forecast.  High temperatures in the mid to upper 80's inland with low to mid 80's along/on the water.  Overnight lows in the mid to upper 60's.  It is moderately humid this morning which will lessen some later.

Water conditions are rated good for all locations today.  Predominant west winds, varying from northwest to southwest, will continue over the next several days.  Raritan Bay will have west winds 5-10 knots increasing to 10-15 knots with gusts to 20 knots late today changing to southwest 10-15 knots with gusts to 20 knots before diminishing to 5-10 knots after midnight.  Seas will be 1-2 feet subsiding to 1 foot or less after midnight.  Barnegat Bay will have west-northwest winds around 10 knots changing to southwest winds at 6-8 knots tonight with seas 2 feet subsiding to 1-2 feet tonight.  Delaware Bay will have west winds 5-10 knots becoming southwest tonight with seas 1-2 feet.  Ocean waters have conflicting forecasts today.  Buoyweather is going for much calmer winds and seas while the NWS PHI is going for gusty winds and building seas due to the eastward moving cold front.  I will give you both forecasts, as the models are not agreeing either.  Buoyweather forecast:  Inshore ocean waters will have west-northwest winds 7-10 knots changing to west-southwest at 5-9 knots in the afternoon with seas 2 feet at 6-7 seconds. NWS forecast:  West winds 10-15 knots with gusts to 20 knots becoming southwest around 10 knots with seas 3-4 feet at 7 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore conflicts as well with Buoyweather saying west-northwest winds 8-14 knots changing to west/west-southwest at 7-11 knots with seas 2-3 feet at 6-7 seconds.  NWS PHI forecast says west to northwest winds changing to southwest at 10-15 knots with gusts to 20 knots and seas 3-5 feet.  Just be aware of these conflicting forecasts and judge it based on what you see today.  The NWS Forecast looks to be most accurate and looked over by a meteorologist.

Surf and beach conditions look good today with a Low Risk of rip currents and a west wind keeping the surf lower.  Winds are variable this morning mainly out of the west at 5 mph with normal surf and wave heights of 1-2 feet.  Winds will continue out of the west varying from northwest to southwest up to 10 mph today with wave heights 2-3 feet with a 3 foot south swell at 6 seconds.  Surf temperatures are in the low 70's.  UV Index is Very High at 8/15.

Have a great day!
