Despite an unsettled and changing weather pattern this weekend, the weather won’t be that bad, but water and surf conditions could be affected. With only 12 days until Spring Equinox and already the start of Daylight Savings Time, it will feel more like Spring than it has the last week. There will be a mix of sun and clouds, with more clouds than sun both days. There is a chance of rain/snow showers Saturday Night and Sunday Day, although these chances are very low and Sunday will be isolated across the south. Any showers will be isolated or scattered at best. Temperatures will be above average on Saturday and average on Sunday, but cooler than Saturday as a cold front moves through Saturday Night. Saturday will see 40’s and 50’s with 20’s and 30’s overnight and Sunday will see 30’s and 40’s with 20’s and 30’s overnight. Both days will have some gustier winds. Water conditions will depend on location and time. Overall, winds will be gustier early Saturday and then late Saturday and into Sunday. Small Craft Advisories are likely due to elevated seas. Sunday will see SCA’s dropped. Offshore waters will be hazardous to cautious all weekend as the coastal low tracks out to sea. Seas could top 10 feet offshore this weekend. Surf and beach conditions will be cautious all weekend due to rough, high surf and gusty winds. Surf on Saturday will be 4-9 feet subsiding to 2-4 on Sunday! Water temperatures are unchanged in the mid to upper 30’s inland with mid to upper 40’s offshore. UV Index will be Low to Moderate at 2-4/15.

A low pressure system along the Southeastern Coast will slowly move northeast off the Carolina Coast and then rapidly out to sea late Friday Night into early Saturday. Meanwhile, a cold front will approach from the West and cross the region late Saturday. High pressure will then build to our south into early next week A weak disturbance or frontal boundary may pass through the area around Tuesday, followed by the potential for a low pressure system to the south and pass over the region Wednesday into Thursday.

Next week will start off dry with precipitation moving in Tuesday Night with chances through Friday. Monday will continue average to above average temperatures before Tuesday ushers in cold air again!  So, any precipitation that falls during the week could be rain to mix to snow!  Water conditions will be mixed, but could be cautious Tuesday Night through Friday, especially offshore. Unsettled patterns and moving boundaries and lows will increase winds and seas. Surf and beach conditions look ok through Thursday when surf will increase for Thursday and Friday.

Have a great weekend!
