A mixed week for both weather and water conditions. Monday will start off dry, with Tuesday through Friday having scattered chances of showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will heat up into midweek as a warm front lifts north again with high humidity as well. Monday and Tuesday will have highs in the 70’s and 80’s with 80’s pushing 90’s on Wednesday and then back into the 70’s and 80’s for Thursday and Friday before temperatures increase into the weekend. Humidity will be moderate to high. Some thunderstorms throughout the week could be strong to severe. Right now, Tuesday is highlighted with some chances inland. Water conditions will vary from good to cautious, with much of the week borderline for winds to 20 knots and seas pushing 5 feet at times. The beginning of the week will have the highest winds and seas, but midweek through Friday could have periods of seas to 4 or 5 feet. Midshore to offshore waters will be mainly cautious for seas to 7 feet at times. Surf and beach conditions will be good to ok with wave heights starting at 3-5 feet and subsiding back to 2-4 feet with a Moderate Risk of Rip Currents, improving to possibly Low at some point this week. Water temperatures are steady in the 60’s and 70’s. UV Index will vary from Moderate to Very High at 4-9/15.

An area of low pressure will continue to track through New England and into the Canadian Maritimes through Monday. Weak high pressure will briefly influence the area on Monday.  A warm front will lift north of the region Tuesday, followed by a cold front tracking through later Wednesday. This front is forecast to stall south of the south Thursday and then lift back northward across the area at the end of the week.

4th of July Weekend looks like scattered chances of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday and then mainly dry on Sunday. Highs will be 80’s pushing 90’s for some places, cooler at the shore and overnight lows in the 60’s and 70’s with higher humidity. Water, surf and beach conditions look good overall. Winds and seas may approach borderline conditions on both days.

Atlantic Tropics are quiet.

Have a great week and thanks for reading! 4th of July Weekend Outlook will be out for Thursday with an update of any changes for Friday. Have a great holiday and be safe!!

Re: Severe Weather Possible for Tuesday
« Reply #2 on: June 30, 2015, 01:52:28 PM »
As forecast, showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon, evening and tonight moving into the area. There are already some showers and some severe warned thunderstorms to the west in PA. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Morris, Passaic, Salem, Somerset, Sussex, & Warren Counties and part of the Delaware Bay/River until 8PM. Parts of neighboring states of Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New York are also included in this watch.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch #372

Thunderstorms, some strong to severe will be possible and capable of heavy rains, dangerous lightning, damaging winds, hail and even tornadoes! Be aware of changing weather conditions and have a way of receiving weather alerts. Be safe!

Quote
REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.
