What make and model would you recommend there Capt. Bob?
Just looked at one on Boaters World website a Lewmar Horizon 600, and it got a really bad review.

Mike,

i have the Lewmar Sportfish 450 free fall.....have had it for three years now and no problems. My buddy has had his for 5 years with no problem and Capt Matt put one on this spring and everything is good.

Only down side is they come with a cheesy switch and breaker, I bought better ones, I keep the breaker in by the battery back and throw it off at the end of every trip, as they windlas is wired right to the battery I don't want to take a chance on any battery draw.....

If you go to one let me know I have a place inTexas that sells anchor rodes with the tapered back splice at the chain. good prices I just bought a 300' 1/2 rode with 10' of chain for $150.00 TT^

How do you yell at a windlass?

 rofla hhppy rofla hhppy

i'm sure you'll find something to yell at john and I about. ;D

Save your money, now if we start working with 2 anchors i'll be more than happy to flip switched on a windlass!

Bob, did you have a pulpit on the boat or did you install that also?

Joe

No I had a pulpit on the boat and the anchor rode locker was right behind it so it was easy to line up. I put the windlass on the anchor locker door, backed it inside with 1/2 oak and added another lock hasp to secure the locker door better.
