Reel Time offshore sea bass 12/02 Trip
« on: December 02, 2007, 10:52:43 PM »
Met Capt John B., Hareball, Anthony, and Ralph at the boat around 7:00 am for a sea bass trip. We were greeted with some snow and ice on the boat to help get us in the spirit of the season, and off we went. Stopped out side the inlet insight of a couple of working birds, marked some fish and a lot of bait about 5-15' off the bottom, but no takers. Shot out to our spot with a little sleet and rain along the way in our 2 hoarse open sleigh, and I can assure you I was not signing jingle bells... These guys pried me out of my warm bed for this one. It took us 3 drops of the anchor to hook up just right, conditions were a little tough today anchoring with one anchor on the wreck, but once we set up, it was none stop action. We had to hook into 200+ sea bass and kept about 35 fish. Too many throw backs for my liking. The dog fish were insane, when we attempted to slide slightly off the wreck in hopes of a few porgies. All in all, great day with the guys taking in the crisp cold air while we played drop and reel. Capt John B, has a new found respect for Hareball after pulling in 300 feet of anchor line, “funny what a little manual labor will do". GOOD TIMES!!!

Something tells me he would rather be out hauling the anchor than flipping pizza.

It's like offshore bull riding! Grab the line, sit down on the Bow and start pulling while the bow rises 6' then drop and smashes the pulpit into the next wave ;D As much as I hate pulling Anchor I like doing it just as much, but it's always nice to stick it on the first shot and get to the fishing. t^
