Nothing is going to change when everyone is getting paid off. Get rid of the lobbiest and just maybe something would get done. This country could be energy independent in 10 years if it wanted to. bngh bngh

well yeah gas is expensive, but were still one of the cheapest countries

also when i get pissed at gas prices i remind myself of wht a comedian once said

::::for $2.90 someone will pump 1 gallon of oil from the hot dessert, then ship it to the USA then some one else will convert it into gas, then ship it to a gas station, then someone else will put it in our car for us, now compare that to someone charging $1.69 for  16 ounce bottle of tap water::::

so when i think of that i smile take a sip of my bottled water start my big gs guzzling V8 truck and drive off towards the sea to go fishing in a gas guzzling boat...

 chrz chrz chrz

they got us by the balls nothing we can do, we as a nation need the fuel and will kepp on paying no matter what, the gas companies all know that bngh bngh

Corn is rapidly becomming an alternative fuel source and corn prices are rising, but here is the delima . . .

I don't know the terminology, but the government pays farmers NOT to use all of their land, thus raising the prices of the farm products, however, with the prices of corn going drastically up, a lot of the farmers are not going to re-new their agreements with the government to not farm a certain percent of their land.  The farmers will now be making more money to utilize all of their land.  This will help to make the US more self sufficient in the future, but it will take away important habitat needed by the wildlife to survive.

So, a catch 22 as usual.  Utilize all of our farmland and loose a lot of wildlife and hunting areas.  I know it should be an easy decision, but there's a lot more to it than the simple way I have explained it.

Id rather look at corn fields than condos, if the land has to make money for the owner.

The comarison of gas to milk, soda etc is invalid.

An aveage family uses about a gallon of milk per week vs. 20 or 30 gallons of gas. All of these other items are manufactured. We don't have to depend on other countries who hate us to produce these items.

Gas/Oil effects every part of our lives and security. All goods have to be moved somehow, houses and warehouses have to be heated and we have to get ourselves to work. Tanks and warplanes need it too.

I don't think money will be our un-doing rather oil will if we don't do something about it. We almost lost WW II because of it and we haven't learned our lesson.

Sorry about my ranting on this subject but I feel it's a very important issue. All the media seems to care about is Brittney Spears and Lindsley Lohan...

Unfortunately, you are correct about this.  But the media will put out what the people want.  It's screwed up how these people want and crave these kind of news reports?  I couldn't care less about Spears or Lohan, or any other so called celebrities for that matter.
