Hey guys. I'm pretty new at surf striper fishing. I just bought a striper rig in a packet with line, connector, and weight holder. Obviously I';m not that experienced but is this a good rig just throw on a 2-4 oz. weight with a clam and have at it, or should I use my braided line a swivel connector than a fluor. leader, circle hook and what a clam or menhaden, or plug with treble hook and if I use this setup where does the weight go. Sorry for the way this question is written out.

Also, I believe you may need to use a slider that is a little stronger if you're fishing braid.  I haven't fished with braid yet, but my understanding is that the line will wear into the slide if you're fishing with the wrong type.  This thread may clear things up a little better than I: http://njsaltwaterfisherman.com/forums/index.php?topic=4365.0

If you bought a pre-made rig, you should just have to tie it to your main line, put a sinker on the snap and start fishing.

The weight of the sinker depends on how and where your fishing. Give us some info on where and when you're going...

Don't be affraid to ask the people in the shop. They have good up to  the minute info.

Fly2Fly, why do you use the highlighted block all the time?  It is very hard to see.  I usually don't read your posts because of it, sorry if I miss any of your questions.
