Goals for 2009
« on: January 22, 2009, 07:24:30 PM »
what are some of your fishing goals for 2009?  some of mine are to catch a muskie, catch a doormat fluke, and get a striper(s) over 15 pounds.

Ten pound plus fluke is at the top of my list.  t^

Make more off shore trip, as the fluke regs might put that fishery down for a week or two.

Have a few others that I am not at liberty to say right now.  TT^

Well, I met two goals already.  I went on an offshore sea bass trip.  That is my plan every year.  And this year I caught the largest sea bass I ever have.  Fishing for sea bass is my very favorite.  Whether its inshore or offshore, sea bass is my favorite.

I would like to catch more keeper fluke than last year.  The size does not matter to me.  I doubt I would keep a huge fluke anyway.  Give me a couple of 3 and 4 pounders and I will be happy.

I'd like the 2009 vacation to be a great fishing vacation.  Not like 2008 where I took two seperate weeks in different parts of the year and both were disasters with the seas and the weather.

Another yearly goal I have will not be met this year.  Is to fish on my birthday.  February 19.  Won't be able to do that this year.  But in 2010, its on a Friday.  Oh yea..........  I have never fished on my birthday.

Another one I have never done is fish at least once in every month of a year.  Never did that before.  I have January covered already.  I hope I do it this year.

Be good!

lets see....
try going sharking without blowing the rear seal on my gear...better yet, not doing that while having customers on the boat!
try open boat wednesdays when not booked and hopefully break the 40lb mark this year on the bass front!

-Land a striper
-A bunch of big blues
-A keeper fluke (provided there is such a thing this year  :-\ )
-Learn, learn, learn
-Have fun
-Catch no robins    hhppy

Since this will be my second year, and 2008 was my first year....and wasn't too prodcutive, I have high hopes.

Be able to navigate better on the sand with these new hips.

Catch a bass over 35 lbs off the surf.

Be able to teach what I know about surf fishing to anyone who wants to listen.

Spend a lot more time on the beach with friends and family.

To catch sharks off IBSP more often.

And to write more articles on fishing the surf.

2009 should be a good year for local fishing I just hope the beaches are ready for it.

Happy Catching

2008 was a lost year for me as far as fishing is concerned so my goal is to get out as often as possible.
