That's why it is so important to frequent the B&T's.  Yes you can get some good buys in the mega marts but the personal professional care is not there.

Soon that will be all you have if we are not careful.  Once all the mom & pop stores are gone so will fishing as we knew it.  Where will you get your bait?  Not to mention custom products rods and other products like plugs swimmers, needles, poppers, etc.  These cottage industries will be out of business as well.

Art,
You don't want to do that! Been there and you get no time to fish. It's fun talking fishing all day, but wanted to do it sometimes.

Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife sells all of my fishing tackle for what she thinks I paid for it!

Been a dream of mine as well.  But, I do not think dreams come true anymore.  Not for me at least.

I have not been in the shop in question.  I go to the one at the marina.

Its a sad story.  I wish the T&A folks the best.

I had a tackle store owner tell me "If you like fishing, open a ski lodge"

Shame about T&A but I never understood why they moved to the other side of the highway.

Rent issue at the old store is the reason for the move.

Killed the business IMO.  PIA trailering the boat, making a u-turn twice to get bait and tackle. There are 2 easier stops to make between the Tackle Box and Julians.

The economy is killing everyone.  I now catch my own killies, net my own bunker, get my squid which is larger and fresher from the Chineese market, get my smelt also from the market.  I also buy my tackle online since you can find better deals elsewhere when you can search the entire world... I am sure more will also go out of business, especially the one's who don't have boat rentals to help there business.
Fish out of Toms River NJ.
Call Nick for open boat, 973-417-5756, or on Channel 68.

...didn't want to kick them while they were down but...when they were on the "right" side of the road I was in the store and asked where something was and got a wise @ss comment like "you walked by it twice"...I dropped the items I was about to buy on the counter, walked out and never went back..
