Gear Storage
« on: February 08, 2009, 11:04:42 PM »
Anyone have any unigue gear storage they are happy with?  Maybe something homemade or otherwise unique (beside manufactured tackle bags/boxes).
Storage for rigs, lures, jigs, sinkers, tools, etc.
Pictures encouraged.

i took a small cooler and put a piece of wood along the inside wall of the cooler.  I use it to hand plugs from it while keeping weights loose hooks, pliers etc. at the bottom of the cooler.

Are you looking for something to store extra stuff away or like a tackle bag you would bring on the beach?

I use an army surplus gas mask bag that I added metal grommets in the bottom for drainage.  I also removed the button on the front flap and put heavy duty velcro for easy opening/closing.  I use plastic tubes inside to hold plugs, weights, etc...  Probably cost $30 max.  You can get army surplus bags in just about any size and shape you would want.  They are perfect plug bags for me.

For sinkers I have the plastic qt containers that Wonton soup comes in.....pucnh a hole in the bottom to allow water to drain. I keep them under the side rails on the floor (Teak rail holds them in) each container used fr differant weights 3 oz to 16 oz.

My Umbrella Rigs/Spreader Bars I keep in plastic tubes

For my pre-made fishing rigs I had bought small plastic bags to seal them in, I then put the rigs in a large zip lock bag according to species (Fluke, Striper, Weak, etc.)

My Jigs, Plugs are stored in Plastic Boxs which fit in soft sided Tackle Bag.

I have one large hard sided Tackle Box on the Boat and four soft sided ones.  Each contain  differant items 1) Rigs/Leaders/Line/Spare reels
2) Soft Baits/Gulp Baits/Rigged Eels/  3) Jigs
4) Plugs     Hard Box contains Hooks, Rigging tools, some plugs/jigs, drail weights, Plugs, etc

I also have a multi compartment box that I keep my snaps/snap swivels/rings/etc in (kept at helm)

Tools kept in a hard plastic case, stored under inside bunk. Leak repair kit Dowls, patchs, etc kept in nylon bag under Helm seat, Spare Bildge pump and flex hose kept in nylon bag in cabin, Sea/Drift anchor kept in nylon bag.

I have found that the soft sided bags work much better and save space.

Just looking to get everyone sharing their creations.
I'm building my stock of gear now and trying to organize it.  In the process, I figured other's must have come up with interesting means of storing their stuff.
The Plano, Flambeau, etc. plastic storage boxes are great, but the cost adds up quick.

I'll have to measure the back of the Jeep and see if that will fit.   ;D

That is the reason for the hitch on the rear.  TT^

Got a new tackle box today.  Can't quite get it as close to the water as you boat guys, but the sand is good with me.
'08 Jeep Commander Sport  Got a great deal on it.  Should be on the beach by the end of next week.
