Lawn Ornament ...
« on: February 26, 2009, 10:22:17 PM »
Recently, I tried to convince My Admiral - Her Royal Highness, "The Beach Princess" to allow me to replace her Pink Plastic Flamgoes on our front lawn with my 75 pound black drum fish as a lawn ornament.

I'm the one on the left you silly, one of my fishing buddies "The Music Man!" (on right) gave me a helping hand weighing, measuring and cleaning my future lawn ornament back at the dock.

This fish was caught using 1/2 of a crab as bait in approximately 25 feet of water about 1 1/2 miles off shore from here.  Air temperature was around 70 degrees F.  He fought me for an hour, before I tired him out and dragged him on board.  He was delcious and not a lawn ornament.  Pink Plastic Flamangoes = Yuck!  (IMHO)   rofla

Is that a Florida Drum Joe?

Rod, he was caught in Florida, yes.  Around here they call him a Black Drum Fish.  I was near the south jetties of the St Mary's Inlet at the north end of Amelia Island which is at the Florida/Georgia border.  I do remember thinking "Boy!  You ain't gonna make it to Georgia this Year!  Save your Dixie Cups y'all, the south shall rise again!  Yeeee Haaaaw!"  So, yes Rod I'd call him a Florida Drum (Dang Yankee too, cause he was caught in North Florida.)   ;D
