Welcome Aboard Seabasstard,

If you are anywhere in NJ being on line at NJ Saltwater Fisherman on Monday will be a day saver.  It looks nasty out there right now as at 11:15 here in Toms River we have over 5" of snow already.

Again Welcome Aboard.

Happy Catching

Hey SB, welcome. This yak forum is still kinda at the grass roots level, but it's growing fast, and NJSWF is a great overall site.

You're out of Tuckerton? I have a question: I have been drooling over the NOAA charts like usual at the end of a long winter, and I was looking at the sedges at the very S end of Barnegat Bay, or the N side of LEI. They look outstanding, lots of nooks and crannies. You got any info on them? What can you catch there? And is there a launch on the Holgate side, or would the 1st bridge on 7 bridges rd be better?

C'mon spring!

Hey Dak thanks for the welcome. I still spend time looking at the charts for that same area looking for new yak spots. My buddy and I usually launch out on 7 bridges road. There is a good launch at the first bridge although I've never launched there. We launch out just before the last bridge on the left, across from the fenced in weather station you can't miss it. This is Little sheepshead creek. We also fish out around the stink house which is to the south of LS creek. Bass, weakfish, blues and flounder are all available in this area. Hope this info helps.

I have also thought about a holgate launch. I even picked up a 4x4 permit for holgate last year but my fishing season was cut short due to a work related injury. (It sucks taking your buddy to holgate to watch him catch a 32 and 40 inch bass within 1/2 hour and you can't fish  >:().
After 3 months of workmans comp, physical therapy and A looong winter I'm ready for some fishing!! t^  SB

I have fished LSC, but it looks like a long paddle from there to the sedges to the north. They look a lot like the sedges up at Barnegat Inlet. We should plan some exploration trips - daytime first to get the lay of the land, and then come back at night and find some stripes!

Hey Flea, you out there?

That sounds like a plan Dak. What areas are you talking about north of 7 bridges? I know of another launch spot just north of 7 bridges.

Another area I have been checking out is the Mullica river. Have you ever fished up there? I've heard of great bass fishing up there in the spring time around Lower Bank and Green bank. My buddy and I scouted out the area a bout a month ago and found some nice launch sites. Any thoughts?

SSSShhhhh...  Flea is still hibernating... Just playing with a spinner rig, 1/2oz lead-head and the Strike King Zulu in bubblegum for then fishes with weak mouths...  The back side of LBI really was a hoot in 2008 and with the Jamaica Bay tourney coming up I figured I should try to catch a biggun' while they're up there...

Tuckerton is a 1 hour 20 minute ride for me - know the route by heart & love the area!  The sedges behind IBSP requires a 2 hour 20 minute ride - would like to spend more time back there. Kayak1's haunt of the Tom's River area is also a salivating morsel just waiting to happen!

If you plan it he will fish it!!

If you look just NE of LSC there is a whole mess of islands, creeks, and sloughs, bounded on the one side by Marshelder channel. I would bet big $ that at night fish come down Marshelder to where it ends and chase bait up onto the flats...

Yeah I have fished the Mullica at lower bank. You can launch right across from the boat factory. One night I marked a ton of activity at the bridge but not a touch. I have also heard good things about the area at the end of Mannheim ave. We'll have to put that on the list.

Wake up Flea! I can't wait to see you and your hot blonde cutie again! And that jig looks delicious!
