The Season Has Begun...
« on: March 07, 2009, 06:54:03 PM »
BOY DID THAT FEEL GOOD...

Went out in the early afternoon and brought some stuff to try and just have a good time.  I met Chris Eng5lt and Mrs Eng5Lt.  The new buggie looks Great good luck with it guys.

I think I cast about 6 times before another friend drove up and the fun began.  From that point in time the lines never got wet again.  Drove down to the inlet and again got into conversations and the line stayed dry.

The conditions would of been pretty good if it was warmer out there right at the waters edge try 48 degrees (air temp) and as the afternoon progressed the temp. was dropping as the wind shifted out of the SE.  The sand conditions were excellent as it was a wet almost frozen consistency.  I don't want to say you don't even have to air down but I did and I had no issues.

I will be trying out on the bay tomorrow before I give into saying I got skunked but this time of year you never know.  I have been at this for a long time now to know that any condition fish can be caught.  You have to be at the right place at the right time using the right type of bait.  Remember small, low and slow, is the ticket to catching early bass.

Happy Catching

Yeah, just being out on the sand was a great feeling.  Having all the gear in the expedition and ready to go so early fantastic.  As soon as I hear of some positive reports I can confirm I will let you guys know.  Grumblings are the back bay north of the Mathis bridge is starting to come alive.

I am hoping on getting out this afternoon for a couple of hours I might even try the Mantalokin Bridge (hint, hint).

It was definetly nice to get out yesterday.  20 degree difference from home, but still nice to get out in the fresh air.
We tried out some of the new gear and the new truck.  New gear is nice and the truck handled great.  Can't wait for the warm air ans warm water to arrive.
