Anything happenning inshore?
« on: March 19, 2009, 01:49:15 PM »
My boat went in the water today and I was wondering if anyone had any news of what might be happenning inshore. I don't want to go to the offshore wrecks the 1st trip out. I want to check everything out first. Anything doing at Shrewsbury Rocks? Sea Bass, Blackfish? Any suggestions?

I see you are from Perth Amboy. Try the back of the Raritan. May pick up some bass and/or winter flounder.

If you are looking to put some time on the boat, motor to the Shrewsbury River for some flounder.

You can not keep flounder until Monday, March 23, but you can do catch and release.

I have the boat in Pt. Pleasant right now. I'll bring it up to Raritan Bay mid- April. I want to give it a run before heading north. I guess I'll try trolling stripers around the inlet.

still quite early for that, i think you'd be better off trying some flats and sodbankls in the barnegat with bloodworms.

The stripers are on the move .I been over at the tappen Zee  talking to a few guys fishing and they been hitting some stripers. $$$$ Blood worms and $12.00 per dozen rgmn rgmn I will wait for the bunker to run up the river to start fishing over there . Way to much money for the bloods.

Try using the artificial bloods like Gulp or Fishbites.  I have been hearing that the Fishbites are out fishing the Gulp.  I have to believe the scent has something to do with it because the looks are way off.

Blood worms are only expensive when they have them in stock. When they are out of stock they put them at a lot lower price.  ;D

That's true Joe.  I remember when we sold them at the shop.  If we had them they were like $11 or $12 a dozen.  Once we sold out they were less than half price! ;)
