Raritan Bay 3/28
« on: March 28, 2009, 04:36:03 PM »
went out of Sayreville this morning in the rain with friend Ken and his wife Hon on there boat "THE BREEZE",it was there first trip of the year, had a half bushel of clams, didn't have that high of expectations as the water being a very cold 43 degrees, just wanted to sniff out the area.we tried different spots through out the bay chumming for the flounder and also throwing out a line with full clam and fish finder rig in hopes of maybe a Bass.a few light hits here and there on the flounder rigs but nothing caught, saw quite a few other boats but didn't see any action.ended up with the Pepe' Le Pew.headed in a little after noon,on the way up the river, not to far from the ramp a boat off to the side in the marsh a 22 ft Penn Yan cuddy waved us down, they had broken down and before they could anchor drifted into the low water and were trapped there, they had put out a call for Sea Tow but they were 2 hours away, were afraid of going a ground and tipping as it was an out going tide.Ken did an excellent job working his way in there so they could toss us a line, was able to tow them to the Sayreville Ramp and save the day.I told him he did a good deed and he will go to heaven, instead of where he belongs. ;D was nice to get out and great to be on the water, should have my boat ready by end of next week, put primer coat on flooring yesterday, will paint Tuesday, put all my gear back and good to go.a couple more weeks to warm up and I think the action will pickup in the bay.    Kez
