Raritan Bay 4/5
« on: April 05, 2009, 08:31:57 PM »
shake down run for the boat today, myself and my son Brian, started late, wanted things to settle down, picked up 1/2 bushel clams Sayreville bait shop.put in at Sayrevile ramp and hit the Keyport flats and fishing before ten.anchored up and were trying for the striped ones, taking a beating on anchor with the open boat with the wind blowing and waves breaking over the bow.we pulled up and headed over towards Laurence Harbor beach to just before where it shoals up,a little calmer here tucked in a little closer to shore.Brian managed to bring in a 26 inch short that got the skunk off.stayed here awhile and then the wind kicked up at a steady blow, picked up and moved back bay, tried for awhile off Tottenville Beach.picked up and moved  to beach off South Amboy, must have been a good 25 people fishing from the beach.we stayed here and chummed heavy but came up mt.headed in around three thirty, boat ran real well, was pleased with that, did a shakedown and was able to wet the line, great to get out with the boat for the first time this year and enjoy a day with my son. t^    Kez

nice!! we also fished the bay for a little bit tonight. surf rockets girl licked my a$$ again. we only beached one bass and she got it about 27inches.  i have to say there was a lot of bunker flipping in front of us. and there was a huge flock of birds working on something about a half mile out, crashing the water with vengeance. it was too far out to see if fish were on it as well but it was a lot of activity.

the water in the bay looked like it was kicking.  I took the kids to the boardwalk today for the easter egg thing and the water was FLAT.. But I did notice the wind was coming from the bay side.

The conditions were less than favorable!  Dead low was about 11:30, and then once the tide swung it was full wind against tide!  Didn't see any boats around us haul anything!
