Stripers Caught Out Back.
« on: April 12, 2009, 11:04:34 PM »
Hi All I heard from Betty & Nicks B&T that there were a few stripers caught not out front but in the back of IBSP.  There are bass in the bay and they can be caught on small swimmers and clams but the key is to go at night.

The two weigh ins at B&N were in the 29" class an weighing around 8# a piece.  Nice bass this time of year.  It looks like all the action is in the bay and as the temps get warmer the bay should be on fire soon.

If you go the water is a little dingy and green out front so not ideal conditions and after the NE winds and rain the bottom will be hard to hole and you will need close to 8oz in the rips.

Good Luck

Happy Catching

Paul

right now the bay is red hot with some very nice bass and keepers of 30" plus..... If your looking to get that first bass of the season.... then the bay is the place to be fishing....

I have fished in many different areas this season in the bay and everyone of them are holding fish....and they are hungry because when they hit.... they are on for sure....

also these fish are not from the kayak.... just from street ends and docks.....
The areas I fish are the ones you said where a wast of time

The bass are in good.  I am avg 15 a (full) night.  With more keepers then i had by the end of may last year, most 24-28"   Stay away from inlet spots or deep water.  deep into the bay flats areas are working best.

I did have some time last night to hit some of the local docks on my way home.....We found fish at each and every street end and dock on the East side of the bay.....

These fish are feeding very heavy....because when they hit your plug.....its hard.

Thursday sounds good so far.  I have cabin fever so bad I spent over 2 hours over at Grumpys and enjoyed Tommy's grumpiness.

I picked up a couple more 5" Mombo's in black and yellow with a black back.

Let me know when and where.  If all goes right I should be out there.

Happy Catching

I was out for a while this evening over at the piers in SSH but I have to tell you the temps were in the mid 40's but that wind and light rain made my hands feel like they were going to fall off.  Spent all of about a half an hour out there this evening with no bites at all. I am not surprised it was just to cold for me.
