Reel Class Flounder 4/13
« on: April 13, 2009, 06:48:54 PM »
Had Doc Sokol and his son Jason, Ryan Helmstetter, and Brian Arrabito aboard for a makeup trip from 4/4.

Made a total of 9 drops, 7 in the bay, 2 in the river. Caught a grand total of 2 fish, both keepers, one at the mouth of the canal, and one in the river. More bites in the river today, just 1 bite in the bay and that was our one fish in there.

One thing I've noticed this weekend is that every female flounder we've filleted thus far was NOT spawned out, and most had empty bellies. My gut feeling is that these fish really haven't gotten going yet and the best is still yet to come.

Fishing was simply ABYSMAL. Ice-cold water and runoff definitely contributed. With that said these guys, all regulars, made it a great day on the water no matter how crappy the catching part was. Those scallop-McNuggets compliments of Chef Gonzalez were indeed a highlight of the trip  Back at it over the weekend, can't wait to get a good bite going again and kill some flounder  TT^

Great effort Capt Allen. I heard the bottom really dropped out on the flounder fishing lately.  :P
