HI ALL,
Well I finally got out late morning early afternoon and stayed to 4:30. I opted not to use the kayak only because the fog on the bay down by the inlet looked like something I would rather leave till later. So here is the report.
Stopped at Grumpy's for a dozen clams and some info and found the book had one caught so far with a number of shorts all over the place. I decided to get on at A7 and check out the cuts it looked like a nice hole just north of A10 so I set up shop and waited for things to start (I felt confident). Did not have to wait long as I picked up one short barley made 20" but it was a nice pull as the wave action was pretty good not bad but noticeable. I was using a fishfinder rig with a 6/0 circle hook. I decided to move a bit more south so I went down to around A16 or A17 and found Mr. Bass home but now I switched to a 8/0 circle hook and this time pulled in an almost keeper just short. Boy did that feel good.
After that I had to cut it short but all in all it was good to get out there and feel that fantastic tug. Now, I am looking for that first keeper of the season. I am hoping to be back out there soon if the rain moves out which it looks like Sunday sometime. Get the honey do's out of the say and hit the beach or bay on Monday. There were quite a number anglers out there today almost looked like a weekend.
The water was fairly clean with just a hint of weeds but for the most part the line came in clean. It was a good day to do some scouting as well. The beach was a little chewed up so watch for cuts and drop offs as they are close to the high water line. If you go out tonight be careful out there. If you stay close to the dunes you will be just fine.
Happy Catching
Paul
