Sun May 24th Met Steve & His son Lou at 5 am.
First stop was Franks for Bait.
No Herring so we had no other choice but to buy Shinners.
We arrived at Waywayanda and we were the first boat to launch.
Lou hooked up right away with a nice Crappie.Next drift I hooked up with a 17" Brown Hold over and Steve followed with a Stockie Brown. We picked away for several hrs and when we called it a day we ended up with.
3 Browns
1 Crappie
2 Pickeral
1 largemouth
1 Catfish
When we got back to Steve's House the Grill was fired up & we munched out and enjoyed several cold ones.
Sun May 25th
Met Steve at 10 am.
1st stop bait shop.
Bought more Shinners and took the short ride to Clinton Reservoir.
Steve launched his Monark and we slow trolled to our spot.Within minutes my line peeled off the Strike guard.I set the hook and started fighting the fish. The fish was peeling line and once the fish surfaced the 6 lb test snapped
Man was I bummed !
We started slow trolling again and nothing was happening.Steve decided it was best to start drifting but things were dead. For 2 hrs we sung songs to one another
We even anchored up and started a chum slick with dead herring and could not hook up.On the last drift I hooked up with a 2 lb Smallie and that was it.
At 3 pm we called it a day and went back to Steve's house and fired up the grill once again.
A nice Memorial day weekend it was !
