Had brother in law Rayz and Nephew Ben today for a Bass trip. Early reports from the past couple days didn't sound great from the captains I spoke with..
Punched out the inlet at 7:AM ( way too late) headed North in search of bait.. wound up finding a lot of bunker action just North of Seaside. The usual crazy fisherman all chasing the same pod.. hung back and picked away at about a dozen bunker that enjoyed the new live well.
Marked a lot of Fish and Set up the live liners,
Brother Ray had a good first run off Set the hook and a Nice fight was underway.. All indications of the fight was bass.. but no.. a 3 foot FAT baby
Thresher Brown Shark..
Hung around for an hour or so marking bait.. setting live lines and Jigging.. Nothing hungry!
Decided to head farther North.. Spoke with Capt Jerry and Capt Allen.. who had 1 fish in the Am..and turned over to Seabass.. Seemed to be the same info on the early morning bite.
Beautiful calm seas took me just North of Manisquan inlet.. where the results were the same.. Turned back, around 2:pm and Not a Bunker pod to be found.. Marked fish all the way back.. and no takers..
60 miles today. dock to dock.. was a nice time and we worked hard.. with no results.
Seemed to be the same for most in that area.. Those who got out at day break found the feasting bass, That were now full.
