Best Party Boat(s) for Rookies...

Title says it all...looking to go out of Point Pleasant or Belmar NJ...anyone have experience with any boats there?

My friend and I consider ourselves accomplished fresh water fisherman (so we're not new to fishing by any means) but now have the itch to try something a little different. Looking to trade in our 2 lb. test and 1/32 ounce jigs for something a little bigger 

So...

Who rents rods and reels? Who would be the most helpful for 1st timers on big water? Do you guys recomend Fluke or Blues for our first trip. Like i said, we're not foreign to fishing but def. will need some help with this for awhile.

Welcome to NJSWF and saltwater fishing in general .  It is something that you will enjoy and is not that much different than freshwater.  Are you looking strictly at party boats?  I would recommend considering an Open Boat on with a Charter Boat Captain the 1st time out.  It is a little more expensive than a PB, but so worth the money.  Most charters include tackle and even bait, some have mates and/or deckhand and the knowledge you will gain and the fishing techniques you will learn will be priceless.

If it's a bunch of newbies not really used to fishing from a boat, I'd start off with a nice fluke trip in the bay.  Bluefishing can be fun, fast and furious, but if you're not used to a rocking boat, fast fish, crowds, diesel fumes, and regurgitating yellow-eyed demons...well, could be someone's first and last trip

I think all party boats offer rod rentals so any you choose should have you covered.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! Hopefully we'll have our minds made up and get out sometime next week.

Most of our local spots haven't been producing like usual  , so that should be enough motivation to get my friend out for something new and different.
