Fluking 6/29
« on: June 30, 2009, 07:51:15 AM »
out of Sayreville around 7 with fishing buddy John, headed staight for the hook, made a stop at th TC buoy and made our first drift,no takers at all after a fairly long drift through the channel, pulled up and headed to the hook, started out in the lower water just off the beach and started picking fish right away, picked a couple just keepers,John caught a fluke that had its complete tail and then some that was bit off,it wasn't just done it was completely healed, posted a picture of it.we started fishing the deeper water of the Sandy Hook channel and had plenty of action,a lot of fat fish over 17 that had to be thrown back and a mix of sea robins as usual.I was using the gulp pink swimming mullet with a squid strip that I had success with my last trip, also tried somthing new,I had jar of the gulp live 6 inch eels I had used last fall for the bass.used this with a squid strip and it worked well, also the same in 8 inch sand worms that worked also.we must have caught well over 30 fish.around 2 headed back to the TC buoy and tried again, only picked up a bird, picked up again and headed back bay, stopped in the Triangle area for awhile, nothing, tried by the train bridge and the river side, nothing.water finally clean in the back.next time out will work the back awhile on the way out.ended up with 6 keepers to 21 inches, headed in around 4.beautiful day on the water. Kez

Great report Kez, thanks.

It sounds like a pretty good day all on all.  The picture of that fluke is pretty cool.

Happy Catching

Nice day with 6 keepers Kez.
Interesting how that fish survived so long with a mutilated body.
See you out there soon.

Good going Kez.  Wonder what the mutant would have measured with a tail?
